Q)
Do you photograph mostly portraits or weddings?
A)
Our passion is to capture the beautiful moments in life. Clients often hire us
for a wedding and later invite us to shoot an anniversary, a prenatal or baby
portrait, a family portrait, a bar mitzvah or a special birthday. In both portrait
sessions and weddings we adhere to the same standards of good preparation and
diligence. We feel our personal and friendly approach to photography makes us
uniquely qualified. Families and friends are pleased time and again with our
gentle and professional interaction with them and our helpful approach. Take
a look at some of the positive comments we have received in letters from
recent clients, brides and grooms.
Q)
What is your style of wedding photography?
A) Every wedding is a unique
celebration of love and romance. We capture these moments with
passion, preserving them in beautiful images. From the bridal preparations
to the fun of your reception, your wedding is photographed the
way you want. Based on our interaction during your engagement portrait
session and our consultation with you before the wedding day, we
arrive at the perfect mix of candid and formal images for your
special day. We like to create a blend between a classical approach
to portraiture and romantic, fun and spontaneous images. Though
we have photographed a great number of weddings in the last fifteen
years, we continue to bring a fresh and original vision to each
celebration. View our online gallery

results first-hand.
Q)
Do you use capture images on traditional film or digital
format?
A) We are committed to using the very best tools and
materials for every event we cover. We are currently a hybrid studio,
capturing the beautiful moments of the day both on film and with
digital cameras.
The film images are created with a Hasselblad medium format camera.
The negatives are 2.25" by 2.25" in size and guarantee the possibility of large reproduction without any loss in detail or richness. An outstanding feature of this professional system is our array of high quality lenses, providing superb optics and total control over the combination of flash and natural light. Unlike many photographers, we continue to offer real black and white film, adding a classic and timeless quality to romantic portraits.
The film is picked up in person to be processed and scanned by the best lab in Northern California. A 5” by 5” print of each image is placed in a proof album, and the digital scans created from the negatives are organized and displayed online for six months in a password-protected website.
In addition to film, we use the latest Nikon digital cameras to capture the candid and fun events of the day. These images are recorded in the high-fidelity RAW format, also known as the digital negative. They are then analyzed, color corrected and uploaded onto the site as well.
In combination, these tools offer the highest quality images available, which are displayed on a friendly, interactive site accessible from anywhere in the world.
Q)
What are the prices of your wedding photography services?
A) Wedding celebrations start
at $2,475 and include an unlimited number of images from your wedding
day. We photograph only a select number of weddings each year,
allowing us to get to know each bride and groom and maintain a
high level of service. We believe in photographing one event per
day, devoting our full attention to you and your families and friends.
We recommend that you contact us as early as possible to guarantee
our availability. The pricing of our services is clear and concise,
with no hidden fees or complicated rates, and we can customize
our services to accommodate special requests. Our packages include
leather albums of the highest quality, and most of the weddings
we photograph are preceded by an engagement portrait
session in
the San Francisco Bay Area. We often travel to locations beyond
the Bay Area, even outside the country. Travel expenses including
lodging are quoted on a case by case basis.
Q)
Is a second photographer available?
A) Candid coverage by
a second photographer is included in our top packages and can be
added to our other wedding service selections. Stephanie is an
accomplished and talented photographer who will add a beautiful
complement of candid shots to your wedding day coverage. A proof
album of these images can be created to supplement your beautiful
wedding album.
Q)
Some photographers take control and rule the day. How do
you feel about that?
A) We prefer to be as unobtrusive as possible while still creating all the photographs
you have requested. We realize that your time is extremely valuable and strive
to keep time spent away from your guests to a bare minimum. We are easy going,
fun, relaxed and will do all we can to help you enjoy the experience of your
wedding day. Special requests are always welcome.
Q)
Do you have a schedule for the wedding day?
A) Our coverage of each wedding
is planned in advance. In consultation with you, we create a schedule
for the important events of the day along with a list of your requests.
By the day of the wedding, we have familiarized ourselves with
the names of the wedding party and family members. To assist you
further in your planning, we can refer you to a list of recommended
vendors who we consider to be among the best in their field. They
are committed, like us, to helping you enjoy your special day.
Q)
Do you preview the wedding sites for each wedding? Do you bring
an assistant?
A) Good preparation is essential
to our success. We have had the pleasure to photograph many beautiful
locations throughout Northern California. Whenever possible, we
revisit the site a short time before the wedding day to check out
the available light and scenery. We always bring an experienced
assistant to help gather family members and assist the bride and
groom on the day of the wedding.
Q)
How many photographs do you take on the wedding day?
Is there an extra charge for additional film? Is overtime available?
A) We
photograph the events of the day with no preconceived limit on
the number of images. We come prepared with more film than necessary,
back-up equipment, and take all the images needed to tell the story
of your wedding day. We often take more than 600 images at a wedding
in both color and black-and-white. We only photograph one wedding
per day and are always available for extended coverage.
Q)
How soon are the photographs and the album ready?
A) The original prints are
ready four weeks after the wedding day. Special arrangements can
be made to obtain the prints sooner if necessary. Viewing and ordering
is accomplished easily on a password-protected online gallery.
We usually schedule your pick-up appointment during our last consultation
before the wedding day. You have four weeks to review the photographs
and place your order for the album and any reprints. This order
is ready in another twelve to fifteen weeks. Additional artwork
and custom frames may increase order processing time. Our policies
are flexible, and we will do all we can to accommodate your special
requests.
Q)
Do you sell the proofs and negatives?
A) The collection of proofs
and negatives from your wedding are available for purchase after
the event. Depending on your reorder, proofs can be purchased individually
or as a set. The negatives are a very important record of your
families and friends. We recommend that you purchase the negatives
and keep them stored in a safe place. The collection of negatives
can be purchased one year after the wedding date for $400.
